The de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a single engined, high wing, propeller-driven, STOL aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada, primarily known as a bush plane. It is used for cargo and passenger hauling, aerial application (crop dusting and aerial topdressing), and has been widely adopted by armed forces as a utility aircraft.

The Coastal Rangers DHC-2 Beaver is normally stored either at the South End of Buttle Lake at a dock house near the Myra Falls Compound or at the Marina in Gold River.

M.H.I. Recruit Training

M.H.I. recruit training is an intensive four month program. The training is similar to many armed forces recruit training but everything is monster hunting related. The classroom sessions range from company history, first aid and weapon familiarity to how to kill undead, general bestiary and vampire weaknesses. There is a structured physical aspect to the program with cross-country runs, fitness classes, weight lifting and obstacle courses and of course training with weapons and small unit tactics.

Monster Hunter Recruit Training Graduates receive:

Firearm: Rifle (50%) or an experience roll for +(1D6+2)% per month of training
Knowledge: Monster Hunter/Cryptozoology/Bestiary (40%)
Strategy (25%) or an experience roll for +(1D6+2)% per month of training
Characters are granted 960 hours training to increase their STR, DEX or CON
SAN +1d6 per month of training

Graduates are granted an additional (1d6+INT/month of training) skill points that can be added to 6 Skills from the following list:

M.H.I. Body Armor

M.H.I Body Armor is custom designed and fitted for each team member. M.H.I. Engineers have developed a suit of tactical body armor that is based on the Future Force Warrior System.

Future Force Warrior Concept

Description:
The Future Force Warrior (FFW) Concept will be a completely integrated system which will be tailored to each individual, from an electro-spun Combat Uniform to a biomechanically engineered Headgear Subsystem. There are 6 major subsystems included in the concept:

The Headgear Subsystem, which we describe as Information Central, is the situational awareness hub of the system. It would include Integrated tactical processing (e.g., maps, routes, SA data); 180° emissive visor display; High data rate (GB/sec) communications; Microelectronic/optics combat sensor suite that provides 360° situational awareness; Integrated small arms protection in selected locations.

The Combat Uniform Subsystem, which we describe as Survivability Central, contains three layers: the Protective Outer Layer, the Power Centric Layer, and the Life Critical Layer.

The Weapon Subsystem, Lethality Central, permits direct and indirect target engagements. The weapon weighs 5 pounds, and combines 5 tubes of soft-launched, 15mm intelligent seeker munitions and 1 tube of stacked 4.6mm kinetic energy projectiles for close quarter combat.

The Warfighter Physiological Status Monitor (WPSM) Subsystem collects information on the vital signs (core temperature, skin temperature, heart rate, blood pressure) hydration state, stress level (mouth sensors), thermal state, sleep status, and workload capacity of the warrior. The WPSM can also recommend remote triage care needed.

The Micro-climate Conditioning Subsystem, a network of narrow tubing built into the material of the Life Critical Layer that provides 100 watts of heating or cooling to the warrior.

The Power Subsystem, Duration Central, consists of a 2- to 20-watt Micro Turbine fueled by a liquid hydrocarbon. Ten ounces of fuel, contained in a lightweight plug-in cartridge, powers the soldier for up to 6 days. Polymeric nanofiber battery patches embedded in the headgear and weapon provide back-up power for three hours.

M.H.I. Body Armor isn’t quite up to the FFW Concept level of technology but it is cutting edge and has a number of innovative advancements.

M.H.I. FFW Body Armor is a high tech and unique piece of gear. Each Monster Hunter is personally responsible for their suit of M.H.I. FFW Body Armor. The armor will require maintenance and possibly repair after each operation. General maintenance (cleaning, lubing, minor patches, etc) will cost the Monster Hunter money, any other repair work will require a trained technician and will cost money and take time. If the armor is lost or destroyed it will take a considerable investment of money plus a call into a contact or the use of a favor to replace.

Obstacle/Training Course

The Coastal Rangers have a full sized 24 obstacle military confidence corse. It is used as a way to familiarize the Rangers’ with the kind of tactical movement they will use in combat, as well as for physical training, building teamwork, and evaluating problem solving skills.

The course is named “Oliver”

There is also a wood rappel tower with a helicopter cabin simulator (wooden
components are yellow) located on the training course.

Garage/Workshop/Hangar

The multiuse workshop/garage/hangar is a Powerbilt Q Series arch style steel building. Made with Galvalume steel the structure is 80 feet wide and 100 feet long. It was built without the use of poles or beams and the all clear span is fully useable space.

In addition to acting as a helicopter hangar, parking garage and general workshop there are two vehicle maintenance stations with Four-Post Automotive Service and Alignment Lifts.

The workshops and maintenance stations are fully functional with lifts, hoists, air tools, welders, a few large sturdy workbenches, an anvil, and pretty much any general use tool imaginable. If you are in need of a more specialized tool please ask the Gamemaster if it’s available in the shop.

Firing Ranges

The firing ranges are located on the fourth level of the old mines. The range was custom built by Mancom Manufacturing Incorporated.

Great Bear Lodge

The Lodge is the main meeting area for the Team as well as the home to Maximillion, the Mills twins and “Momma” Stockwell. The twins each have a room in the basement, Max and “Momma” Stockwell each have one of the rooms on the upper floor.

The massive Meeting Room on the main floor of the lodge is the tactical center for the Coastal Rangers. It is equipped to collect, present, manage, evaluate and disseminate information.

There are twelve individual Response Terminals mounted on the grand conference table, a Strategy Console and Identity Consoles which are all integrated with the Critical Command Console.

All information is exhibited on the large video wall display and can be transferred to the conference table terminals. The Critical Command Console does have a satellite connection and communicates with the global navigation satellite system and is connected to the main M.H.I. hub.

All computers on the Myra Falls Compound are networked through the Critical Command Console.
